Well it’s that beautiful time of year when the land comes back to life. On the farm fields are being injected with colour, as the oilseed rape buds open up to reflect the glorious yellow of the sun. The great artistry unveils itself as the ridges are set in place for the next potato crop.
Here at Heal Farms it’s a busy time all round with another new flock having arrived last week it’s all hands on deck, the brighter mornings and longer evenings have most definitely been a welcome sight.
The birds at our newest High Ercall site are in full swing of training now and the girls are already beginning to lay. Within the next week we’ll say bon voyage to 100 thousand of the oldest ladies at Hazledene and then it’ll be time for the big clean out in preparation for another new flock.
What a glorious few days it’s been with the sun beaming down on us, makes the school holidays all the more enjoyable. Right time for me to sign off, I think I’ll go and bask out in the sunshine and scrat around the trees.
